Event Description

 Great news from Earthsharing Australia!

Their documentary film "Real Estate 4 Ransom" will be premiered at ACMI next Wednesday 10 August, 7pm.

Read all about it and view the trailer here: http://realestate4ransom.com

The directors have chosen to focus on the real estate situation here in AU, which has stirred up many young people who feel they have been disenfranchised and "unconscionably" exploited, especially via the first home buyers fund.

This is the project where I learned about the capacity of Resource Rent to solve all of our economic justice issues, no less! In 2007/8, when I was commissioned by Prosper Australia to consult on script development and film interviews with local and visiting classical political economists who explain various aspects of the history of Resource Rent, the classical political economic theorem vs neo-classical economics, the current system which is based on a long history of speculators and financial institutions treating "land" as capital when it doesn't turn over

Many great thinkers contributed to the formation of this economic theorem, hence the name Classical Political Economics: To name a few, Adam Smith, John Loch, and the English economist David Ricardo (1772 – 1823) whose development of the earlier French Physiocrats' ideas became known as Ricardo's Law. Henry George is the American economics journalist who brought it to wide public notice in the late 1800s.

Last Monday, 25th July, The Age did a feature: Speculators locking up empty dwellings that could be homes

The film will be made available for free screenings around the world.  http://realestate4ransom.com/
